LORDS OF THE MANOR, UPPER SLAUGHTER

The Lords is set amidst eight acres of lake and parkland, described by many as the loveliest in England. Walled gardens to the rear of the house provide an idyllic backdrop to the honey-coloured Cotswold stone of the rectory. The Lords of the Manor is an ideal location for exploring the Heart of England.

For 200 years the Lords was the home of the Witts family, historically Rectors of the Parish. Here the Reverend F E Witts, the first Lord of the Manor, wrote his famous chronicle of the 18th Century "The Diary of a Cotswold Parson". It is from these origins that the hotel derives its unusual name.

The original part of the house dates from 1650, although numerous additions have been made over the years, predominantly during the Victorian era.

The reception rooms have retained their warmth and convivial atmosphere, handsomely furnished with fine antiques.

The rambling cellar beneath the manor holds an outstanding selection of wine which will compliment even the most discerning palate.

Period furniture and traditional antiques adorn the bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. Each room is individually designed and retains its own character. Many bedrooms overlook the old courtyard, where the village dining hall one stood. Others enjoy views from the front of the hotel, taking in the lake and parkland beyond.
