Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway

Known as the Friendly Line in the Cotswolds, the GWR is a steam and diesel heritage railway that runs for some 13 miles between Cheltenham Racecourse and Toddington. Since 1981 the volunteers have restored the line together with the platforms, buildings, steam and diesel locomotives and rolling stock. The Railway is open at weekends except for January, February and November, and on weekdays between Easter and the end of October. As well as the scheduled services, the GWR runs events such as Galas, Thomas & Friends and the ever popular Santa Specials.

The big news is that, from 30 March 2018, we will be operating all the way into Broadway where our volunteers have rebuilt the local station to look just like the original. For details of services and events, have a look at our website www.gwsr.com

Broadway Station

After 58 years public train services will again run to Broadway Station! Thanks to the tireless work of the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR) volunteers over many years we are delighted to announce the opening of the extension of the line to Broadway allowing you to travel all the way to the Race Course Station in Cheltenham. For the opening weekend Friday 30 March to Monday 2 April  BUY TICKETS NOW

There is currently no parking at Broadway Station – the nearest car park is the Milestone Ground car park in the Childswickham Road - a pay and display - about 10 minutes walk from the station

GWSR have arranged for a complimentary classic Routemaster bus to run between the centre of the Broadway and the station every 20 minutes. The first bus will depart from the War Memorial (close to the High Street car park) in the centre of the village at 09:00, and from the Milestone Ground car park in the Childswickham Road (WR12 7HA)  at 09:05.  The bus will arrive at the Caravan Club site immediately opposite the station 5 minutes later and repeat the journey every 20 minutes throughout the day.  (Please note GWSR can’t accept any liability for this service)

There are extremely limited accessible facilities and parking at Broadway Station, and GWSR encourages all disabled visitors to park at Toddington Station.

An artist impression of the new Broadway Station Building. This wonderful painting was created by well known railway Artist Fred Lea. The impression was formed by studying the new drawings of the Station Building and overlaying the design on photgraphs of the existing site.
