Broadway Wartime in the Cotswolds Event with GWSR Sunday 29 April

A light-hearted nostalgic 1940s weekend looking at life during the Battle of Britain in 1940s. Transport yourself back to September 1940 and imagine you are waiting for a train at a small station on the Great Western Railway. Children are being evacuated to the coast, soldiers are going back to barracks, and aircrew are heading off to airfields in the South and West. "Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag, and smile, smile, smile".

This GWSR event will be over the whole weekend, with train travellers dressed in 1940's period costume. Travel on a train between Cheltenham Race Course Station and Broadway on a beautiful heritage railway line.

IN BROADWAY on Sunday 29 April there will be a Wartime in the Cotswolds event on the village green including: The Phil Bullas Big Band, playing from 2 to 4.30pm; a display of vehicles from the period by the War Memorial; Tisanes serving tea and cakes;  and the welcoming of three special guests, "King George V1", "General Montgomery" and "Winston Churchill" (arriving by Rolls Royce with motorcycle escort), at about 2.30pm.

Villagers are invited to come to the green in period costume and bring a picnic if they wish.

Many local businesses will be dressing for the occasion and there will also be  a competition for the best dressed window display in the village.

A bus will be available to  transport train passengers from the station to the village centre.  BUY TICKETS NOW
